Art Psychotherapy
for
Children, Young People & Adults
Hello, my name is Farideh. I am a qualified and registered Art Psychotherapist, and I warmly welcome you to a safe, creative space where art can gently open new ways to express, explore and understand your experiences.
Explore my website to learn more about who I am and how I support children, young people and adults through art psychotherapy and creative expression.
You may be seeking support with:
Anxiety, stress and feeling overwhelmed
Depression, low mood and loss of motivation
Relationship and attachment difficulties
Grief, bereavement and loss
Low self-esteem and confidence
Trauma and difficult life experiences
Emotional regulation and managing difficult feelings
Feeling stuck, disconnected or uncertain about life
Therapy offers a safe, supportive space to explore these experiences, develop a deeper understanding of yourself and find ways forward.
Difficult experiences can affect not only our thoughts and emotions, but also how we feel in our bodies. I have undertaken additional training in Guided Drawing and body-focused art psychotherapy, approaches that can be particularly helpful for people experiencing trauma, anxiety or emotional overwhelm.
Through gentle, sensory-based exploration, these approaches aim to support emotional regulation, ease physical tension and help restore a sense of safety and connection within the body.
My approach is psychodynamic, relational and trauma-informed. I adapt my approach to each person’s age and cultural background. I also consider any risk factors and safeguarding needs to ensure that therapy is provided safely and responsibly.
Whether working with a child, young person or adult, I aim to create a warm, consistent and non-judgemental space. Art materials, conversation, movement and sensory exploration may be introduced according to what feels appropriate and manageable, always respecting the person’s choices, boundaries and pace.
Sometimes feelings can become very big, confusing or difficult to explain. You might feel worried, sad, angry, lonely, or overwhelmed, or you may not be sure what you are feeling yet.
You do not have to know exactly what to say. In our sessions, you can use drawing, paint, clay, puppets, figurines, storytelling, movement or play to express yourself. You can also talk, sit quietly or simply take your time. There is no right or wrong way to take part, and you do not need to be “good” at art.
Together, we can gently explore what is happening for you in a safe, welcoming and non-judgemental space. I will listen, work at your pace and help you understand your feelings, discover your strengths and find ways to make difficult experiences feel more manageable.
Hello and welcome
Being a young person can sometimes feel overwhelming. You may be dealing with anxiety, low mood, difficult relationships, past experiences, questions about your identity, or emotions that are hard to understand or put into words.
You do not need to arrive knowing exactly what to say. Through art-making, mark-making, clay, movement, images, conversation, or simply taking some time to be you, you can begin to explore what is happening for you in a way that feels comfortable.
Together, we can gently make sense of your thoughts, feelings, and experiences in a safe, respectful, and non-judgemental space. I will meet you as you are and work at your pace, helping you discover ways to understand yourself, manage difficult emotions and feel more supported.
A space for you
Life can sometimes feel overwhelming, leaving you anxious, low, disconnected or uncertain about how to move forward. You may be carrying difficult experiences, navigating loss or change, struggling in relationships, or simply feeling that something is not quite right.
You do not need to have everything understood before beginning therapy. Art psychotherapy offers space to explore your thoughts, emotions and experiences through art-making, conversation or quiet reflection. No artistic skill or previous experience is needed.
Together, we can gently explore what may be difficult to express, recognise patterns and develop a deeper understanding of yourself. I offer a compassionate, respectful and non-judgemental space where you can work at your own pace and in a way that feels right for you.
